Hello and welcome to tobypitman.com

This is the website for London based guitarist and general studio geek Toby Pitman.

A brief History

I started playing the guitar at the age of 9 and have been playing pretty much non-stop ever since. That was 27 years ago. Phew! How time flies. At 18 I graduated from the Guitar Institute of technology in sunny Los Angeles, CA, USA.

When I returned from GIT i worked as a transcriber for a small music publisher in Sussex and got my first session break with producer Curtis Schwartz doing various KPM library albums. After playing in various bands I moved to London in ’94 and was involved around the Tin Pan Ally music scene whilst doing live and recording sessions as a guitarist.

In 1995 i went to study SSL engineering and MIDI production at IMW. It was at this point i got a serious bug for studio technology and programming. I have worked as a freelance programmer ever since.

Since then I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible musicians, artists (both famous and not so famous) and songwriters. I’ve been involved in a wide variety musical situations covering pretty much every genre and written music for Film and TV. I’m currently focusing on advertising and commercial songwriting.

I’m actively involved in music education and have spent the last three years teaching styles and technique at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music. I also participate in teaching on courses run by the International Guitar Foundation.

I’m currently signed to Kojam publishing and based at Air Studios in London.
